Mondays, 2/26/18 to 4/23/18: Ages 4 through 10 yrs. (3:30 to 4:30 pm)

  • Meet the masters- every 1 to 2 weeks exploring new techniques with clay, canvas and drawing; we'll be learning about famous artists and their paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries

2/26/18:  Complete multimedia eskimo and igloo project, ending the winter session

3/5/18: Vincent Van Gogh, Dutch - Sunflower in natural clay; this will be a food safe functional piece that will take approx. 2 weeks to dry and 24 hours to fire in a kiln. 

3/12/18:  Vincent Van Gogh - His most famous painting of 13 sunflowers becomes three dimensional in this fun multimedia painting

3/19/18: Claude Monet, French, the father of Impressionism - His most prolific painting study of water lilies of France will be a study on how watercolor resists oil pastel in an painting of a pond

4/9/18: Continuation of Claude Monet; begin new artist, Henri Matisse, French - His later works are organic paper cutouts/fabric adhered to a colorful background as we discover new compositions

4/16/18: Continuation of Henri Matisse by creating an acrylic painting of his goldfish bowl

4/23/18: Completion of the Matisse goldfish bowl on table

4/30/18: Pablo Picasso, Spanish, Co-founder of the Cubist movement will the inspiration of our study of monochromatic blue tones in an acrylic painting of a guitar



Session iV at Brandywine: Starts 2/27/18 and 3/1/18

Tuesdays: Grades 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 (4:30 to 5:30 pm)

Art through the ages:

  1. Art Nouveau (Gustav Klimt) - how fabric and gold color work in a self-portrait using a photo of your child

  2. Expressionism (Franz Marc) - abstract animals come alive

  3. Cubist (pablo picasso) - collage work with cut shapes and using texture for a unconventional self-portrait

  4. Surrealism (rene' Magritte) - ordinary objects become juxtaposed


Wednesdays: Grades K, 1, 2, and 3 (3:00 to 4:00 pm)

Thursdays: Grades 6, 7 and 8 (5:15 to 6:15 pm) tentatively to begin in March 2018
